THIS WEEK’S HAPPENINGS
Distance learning
Saturday May 21, 2005 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Daver Porter will be holding a simulcast of a Chicago Area Computer Networking Group
What is distance learning? Why is it among the most important new developments in health education recreation and welfare for us? How has the learning and training landscape changed? How can we benefit from it? Capitalize on it, and grow with it?
This interactive forum will provide tips, information and techniques from several different sources. We’ll interact with people from different parts of the world by utilizing the Internet and other tools, sites experiences and sounds to spell out the promise and prospect for this exciting new arena.
The archives will be in place this weekend for review.
NEW: How many times have you had questions after a class and it was too late to get them answered?
Dave will open the floor for questions a week after the workshop. So listen, take notes, review and come back to the welcome lobby to get answers to all of your questions on Friday May 27th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM CDT
Tuesday open discussion
Open House is every Tuesday 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM CST in the welcome lobby. We answer questions and plan future events during this time. Hope you have some idea for the community and that you will come by and discuss them.
COMING SOON
Version 4 is almost here at the eLearning Coomunity. In the next week or so I will be upgrading all of the rooms in the community. Now people with Mac OS-x or above and those using the Linux OS will have access to our events.
Floor Plan changes
I will be changing the number and names of rooms. I don’t think that topical discussion rooms have been an attraction. So we will have several rooms of varying sizes that can be either scheduled for use on particular days or open for member use at all other times. Stay tuned. I hope to have some details in next week’s newsletter.
FUTURE WORKSHOPS
1) Blended Learning by Chee ( secondary school teacher and successful business owner )
Learn the different aspects of learning today. Face to Face, correspondence, live interactive on-line.
Please RSVP to Chee bchee@yahoo.com for this workshop.
2) Perceptions & Message Design by Paul Wohlfeil ( former professional photographer )
Paul Wohlfeil, a former professional photographer and one whose post-graduate work was in message design, shares some “insight” and principles regarding how we respond to the world around us. Any message (words, pictures, objects, symbols or signs) may be interpreted differently from what the “designer” intended. Applying some principles of design can improve an individuals quality of communication.
Please RSVP to Paul dhsvr74@dhs.state.il.us for this workshop.
3) Photography with a Creative Touch by Paul Wohlfeil ( former professional photographer )
We are all creative in one way or another by imagination, the way we dress, or decorate our homes. Creative photographs are stories in a two-dimensional single frame. Anyone can develop the application of some
common principles of design and improve the “message” quality to attract and hold the attention of the viewer.
This presentation includes some personal images and analysis of their design. Some suggestions for equipment and use are also included in this presentation by Paul Wohlfiel, former professional photographer.
Please RSVP to Paul dhsvr74@dhs.state.il.us for this workshop.
BOB’S COMMENTS
I do my best to coordinate events for our members however being in the US I am not available for many hours of the day. Anyone in Australia or China time zones that would like to work with me for members in that part of the world?
Please accept a standing invitation to be a featured guest speaker, to share your educational projects or products in the form of an interview or webcast presentation. Visit our special events page to schedule a date and topic.
Warm Regards,
Bob Zwick
